A BIG THANK-YOU TO EVERYONE:
Thanks to all the coaches, players and spectators for a successful Baras/UTC Fall Classic weekend. The tennis was spectacular and so was the weather, except for a Saturday afternoon pop-up thunderstorm. Hope to see everyone again in 2004 at the ChampionsClub.We are trying to secure the same weekend for next year. Mark your calendars and let Tom Lowry know if you are interested.
A SWEET HOMECOMING:
Ellen Rogers, a sophomore at Wofford, awarded herself with a sweet homecoming, winning the Women's A singles title on Sunday. Rogers, a three-time state champion for Chattanooga Christian School, won the final, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2, over UNC-Charlotte's Laura Swain. Other champions were Wofford's Brett Johnson (A singles), Tennessee Tech's Luis Aguerrevere (B singles), Belmont's Felipe Abreau (C singles), Myriam Cueva (B singles) and UNCC's Kathy Robey (C singles).
LOST TENNIS BAG:
Jennifer Hatch, who plays for UNC-Charlotte, lost her tennis bag/equipment Saturday night at the Champions Club. It was black&gray Volkl bag. Please contact Jennifer Hatch at 704-649-4691 if found. Thanks!
ABOUT THE CHAMPIONS CLUB:
The Champions Club opened its doors on Dec. 4, 2000, and immediately drew raves from tennis patrons and the public across the country. Champions has 26 outdoor courts (four of which are Deco-Turf cushioned for stadium viewing), locker rooms, showers, a two-story clubhouse and a pro shop. Champions has won TTA awards for two of its tournaments (the 2001 USTA National Open 12s and the 2002 Tennessee State Junior Closed Championships), as well as being named USTA National Facility of the Year in 2001.
