14 Seeds Fall on Their First Day of Play

In the Boys' 16 Singles Clint Bowles crushed 5th seeded Jason Jung 6-2,6-0 in Monday's play. Bowles completely dominated the match from the very beginning, never allowing Jung to get into his game. Bowles of Tampa, FL is slated to meet Kyle O'Leary of St. Louis, MO tomorrow at 2pm.

Boys' 18 play saw two 5th seeds fall. Timothy Smyczek (WI) lost in a close three (3) set match to Christopher Cloer (NC) 4-6,6-3,6-3, while Christian Welte (PA) upset Southern Califrnia's Kaes Van't Hof 6-3,6-3.

Others upending 18 seeds were Hoony Shin (Houston, TX), Sasha Ermaov (Flower Mound, TX), Jay Weinacker (Birmingham, AL), and Ryan Waits (Phoenix, AZ).

Others scoring upsets in the 16's were Calvin Bennett (Sandy, UT), Vijay Paul (Medford, NJ), Scott Rasmussen (Moraga, CA), Rhyne Williams (Knoxville, TN), Daniel Hwang (Plano, TX), and Albert Jou (Fremont, CA).
